About my Practice

A good coach doesn’t walk in front of you, dragging you towards your destination. Nor do they walk behind you, pushing you at a pace you can’t maintain. A good coach walks beside you, ready to help you check your gear, sharpen your skills, read your inner compass, and walk the path with confidence.

I have been professionally coaching since 2011, first as a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach and more recently as a Certified Divorce Coach.

I believe wholeheartedly in the power of the coach model to help facilitate change – I’ve experienced it for myself and have seen the impacts on so many clients and patients.

I describe the difference between therapy and coaching like an onion: therapy is peeling the layers of the onion; coaching says you have an onion, what do you want to do with it?  Rather than looking backwards to the past like we do in therapy (very critical healing work!), coaching helps craft your future. We look at where you are today, where you want to get to, and what stands in your way. We talk values, motivators, and strengths. We harness your innate wisdom to make a plan. Then we talk first steps.

By helping clear away the mental clutter, focusing on realistic goals, and offering accountability I help you set out on this journey with confidence and courage with an eye on the new story of you.

Background Experience

I have been coaching professionally since 2011. I’ve worked with diverse populations as a Health Coach in my own business as well as in a medical setting. I have worked with groups and individuals; created nutrition and group coaching curricula; organized an annual community yoga event; and taught yoga at national nutrition conferences.

After my own divorce I decided to merge the lessons I learned through that experience with the benefits that coaching afforded me and combine them for a new area of focus. I’ve since been asked to be part of a Second Saturday group and create ongoing classes for those in need.
